Derek and his brother Shane moved to California in 2000 to pursue the dream of filmmaking.
Derek Cole landed a job as an
assistant to a production manager shortly after arriving in LA. This is where he learned how to operate a
professional camera, audio and lighting gear. Shane landed a job as office
manager at a studio that made animation and live action films. After a year of
working in the industry and using their daily jobs as a learning tool, they
decided to make their first feature film. Most people start with a short film
but Derek wanted to do a feature in order to look for a DVD release. CRC's first production was on the feature film "Human Behavior".
"Human Behavior" got picked up by an
independent distributor that rented the film out to people across America for
the first year.
Later the Cole Brothers had
another script and started a new production titled "Up For Rent". This film was
the first to receive distribution internationally and later domestically. After
"Up For Rent" was in stores around the globe, Human Behavior was bought up by a
sister company of the first distributor.
Within only 3 years of being open CRC had sold two feature films and produced a music video, two short films and began selling production equipment on the web to hundreds of filmmakers across America.
Visions of Horror was the third feature film produced by CRC Digital
Entertainment. Within 3 weeks of completion, Hart Sharp Video picked up "Visions
of Horror" for world wide distribution making the film CRC's 3rd feature film to
receive straight to DVD distribution.
Visions of Horror has received great feedback and after negotiating, CRC Digital Entertainment earned the ability to be a producers rep to several high profile distribution companies.
Today Derek Cole is set to direct and shoot, 2 Short films, 1 feature (written
by Kent Conrad), 1 spec commercial, and 2 Documentaries over the course of 2
years with the possibility of directing and shooting a creature feature and
producing a second "Visions of Horror".
